Creative Events in Tokyo for February 2026
with umu

August 17, 2026
We’ve just launched the new umu website, and we’re pretty excited about what’s coming next.
It’s been almost a year since we started umu in September 2025. At the time, we weren’t really sure where it would go. We were just excited to create a space for the creative people, projects and ideas making Tokyo what it is.
Since then, we’ve had the chance to meet and speak with creators and companies from all kinds of creative fields. We’ve covered exhibitions, galleries and creative events, and we’ve been invited along to see some of the amazing things happening across the city.
We’ve now interviewed over 30 creators and 10 creative companies, all while our Instagram community has grown to over 9,000 people.
For a small team, that means a lot.
Every message, follow, share, interview, event invitation and introduction has helped us get here. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported umu so far, and we’re looking forward to making it even bigger and better.
So, what’s new?
We’ve added a new events calendar to the site, bringing together the latest creative events happening around Tokyo.
Whether you’re looking for an exhibition, workshop, talk, performance, meetup or something completely different, you can browse what’s coming up and find all the details in one place.
If you’re organising an event in Tokyo, you can submit it to our calendar here.
We’re also starting to roll out our new creative job board.
Tokyo is home to a huge range of creative jobs, but opportunities are often spread across company websites, job platforms, social media and many other places. At umu, we want to bring creative jobs from across different fields, including design, music, film and fashion, into one place. Our goal is to make it easier to discover new opportunities as part of your everyday search for inspiration and information.
This is just the beginning, and we’ll be expanding the job board as we go.
If you’re a company looking to hire creative talent, you can get in touch with us here.
And of course, we’re not forgetting the heartbeat of umu: the people making it all happen.
We’ll continue meeting, interviewing and sharing the stories of creatives working across Tokyo. There are so many interesting people creating amazing things here, and we’ve barely scratched the surface.
If you’re a creator and would like to be featured on umu, you can apply here.
The new site gives us a lot more room to grow, and there’s plenty more we want to build.
More creators. More events. More opportunities. More stories.
We’re still a small team figuring things out as we go, but that’s part of the fun.
Thanks for being here so far. We’ll see you around Tokyo.
